NYDIG Confirms Purchase of BottlePay Bitcoin Payment Service

New York Digital Investments Group (NYDIG), a major player-focused platform, has surpassed UK Bitcoin payment service BottlePay.

This is the formula. Bottlepay is now part of the @NYDIG_BTC suite. We will jointly expand NYDIG’s full stack #bitcoin platform and use its world-class Bitcoin lightning payment infrastructure to create a new era of financial products and make it easier for everyone to get Bitcoin. https://t.co/qJp9xP18AX

Both sides did not disclose the financial details of the transaction. Earlier, Block, citing sources, said the purchase price was between $280 million and $300 million.

“At BottlePay, we set the goal of fair competition. With the support of NYDIG, this dream is coming true. BottlePay CEO Malcolm Cowley brings the revolutionary power of the Bitcoin and Lightning networks to the world by becoming part of NYDIG.

BottlePay was launched in 2019 and is built using the Lightning Network extension solution. At the end of the same year, the European Union’s 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive came into effect and the project was terminated.

In February 2021, BottlePay raised $15.5 million in a seed round with the participation of billionaire Alan Howard and partners at investment bank Goldman Sachs and NYDIG.

Remember, back in March, service developers announced the removal of test mode and introduced the first cryptocurrency to send payments, tips and donations.
